Andrea Cortese Hassett, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrea Cortese Hassett has been with ITxM Diagnostics since 1994, when she joined as the Scientific Director of the Coagulation Laboratory. In 2001, she was named ITxM Vice President and Chief Science Officer for the parent company of ITxM Diagnostics and proudly serves in that role today. Prior to joining ITxM, Dr. Cortese Hassett was active in both basic and clinical research and continues these activities today.

Receiving both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Cortese Hassett holds certifications and licenses with both the American Society of Clinical Pathology and National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel. Contact Andrea Cortese Hassett


Irina Chibisov, M.D.

Dr. Irina Chibisov joined the ITxM Diagnostics Hemostasis and Thrombosis Clinic in July 2006. She completed her medical degree at Ternopil Medical School in the Ukraine and completed three years of training in clinical pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She trained in general internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Shadyside and completed a fellowship in transfusion medicine/blood banking at UPMC. She holds a faculty appointment of Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and is board certified in internal medicine, clinical pathology and transfusion medicine/blood banking.



Franklin A. Bontempo, M.D.

ITxM Diagnostics Medical Director, Dr. Franklin Bontempo, is a nationally recognized hematologist for his work in coagulation. He joined the organization in 1981 and currently holds the position of Associate Professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Bontempo earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree at Hahnemann Medical College, which led to his career specialty of coagulation. He is boarded with the American Board of Internal Medicine and a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.



Joseph Kiss, M.D.

In 1993, Dr. Joseph Kiss became the Medical Director of Central Blood Bank. He began working with the organization in 1986 with a Blood Banking Fellowship. In 1995, Dr. Kiss was named Medical Director, Hemapheresis and Blood Services for the parent company of Central Blood Bank, ITxM. In 2000, he added the title of Medical Director for ITxM Stem Cell Services.

On the medical staff at Pittsburgh-based Presbyterian University Hospital for the past 25 years, Dr. Kiss has additionally served as the Medical Director for the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute Hematopoietic Stem Cell Laboratory since 2000.
